Professional Interests:
Claudiana is a biologist with specialization in biotechnology and experience in Marine Biotechnology and Microbiology. She is currently studying the spatial and temporal variation in chitinolytic bacteria in marine ecosystems and how these microorganisms can be used in biotechnological processes.

She has previously worked in projects designed to test the microbiological quality of ballast water arriving at Brazilian ports.

Most Satisfying Achievements/Awards:
Collaborating on the course "Microbiological Analyses of Environmental Samples", in Monte Negro, Rondônia, Brazil.

This course, organized by Claudiana and Dr. Irma N.G. Rivera, demonstrated inexpensive ways to analyze environmental (mainly water) samples, that can be used in places with minimal financial resources.

Family and Personal Interests/Activities:
Claudiana greatly enjoys travel. Whether for work or for leisure, the important thing is to travel. She also enjoys reading novels and listening to music.
