Current Position and Title:
Dave King is the President and CEO of GENESIS Group Inc., the technology transfer and commercialization arm of Memorial University . GENESIS is the champion of technological entrepreneurship in the province of Newfoundland & Labrador and manages a business incubator for technology-based businesses.

He also serves on several national boards. He serves as Treasurer for the Biotechnology Human Resource Council (BHRC) and for the Association for Commercialization of Canadian Technology (ACCT), and is a member of the Research Partnerships Committee of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC).

Education and Past Positions:
Dave King holds the professional designation of Chartered Accountant as well as a Bachelor of Commerce from Memorial University of Newfoundland and an MBA from McMasterUniversity.

He has a varied background in such diverse areas as manufacturing, mining and research. He was the founding Managing Director of the Canadian Centre for Fisheries Innovation.

He has taught in the business faculties of Mount Allison University and Memorial University and spent ten years with the federal government involved in regional economic development in Atlantic Canada.

Commercialization of technology

Most Satisfying Achievements/Awards to Date:
Successful bid (in 2000) and hosting of the International Marine Biotechnology Conference in June 2005 in St. John's, NL, Canada. Dave served as Chair of the IMBC National Organizing Committee.

Family and Personal Interests/Activities:
Dave is married, with three children. He is an avid alpine skier and cottage country handyman.
