Professional Interests:
Microbial ecology; Natural antibacterial substances; Bacteriocins; Mutacins; Antimicrobial substances from the sea.

Marc's research activities concern the study of new natural antimicrobial agents from bacteria, cyanobacteria, yeasts, micro-algae and fungi. His team's objectives are the detection, purification, characterisation and study of the mode of action of new natural antibiotics for the perpetual struggle against undesirable microorganisms.

Family and Personal Interests/Activities:
Marc and his wife Marilaine Mota-Meira divide their year between Canada and the tropical ambiance of the Barbados.
