Current Position and Title:
Associate Professor, Center of Marine Biotechnology, University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute, Baltimore , USA . Dr. Hill is also an Adjunct Faculty Member in the School of Pharmacy , University of Mississippi and a Lecturer in the Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences Part-time Graduate Program at the Johns Hopkins University where he teaches a graduate course in Marine Biotechnology.

Professional Interests:
Molecular microbial ecology, especially of symbionts of sponges and other marine invertebrates. Microbiological aspects of marine natural products. Marine actinomycete bacteria. Bacteriophages.

Most Satisfying Achievements/Awards to Date:
The role played by the Hill Laboratory in revealing the remarkable diversity of microbes associated with marine sponges.

Election as a Fellow of the Society for Industrial Microbiology, 2003.

Family and Personal Interests/Activities:
Travel, especially visiting family in South Africa . SCUBA diving and sailing.
