Current Position and Title:
Sangeetha Subranabian is a Ph.D. student at the NRC Institute for Marine Biosciences in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Sangeetha is PAMBA's first student member!

Sangeetha is investigating antimicrobial compounds from the skin mucus of fish. The study involves screening skin mucus from various fish for antimicrobial activity, isolation of active fractions by various chromatographic separation techniques and characterization of purified active compounds using mass spectrometry.

Professional Interests:
Sangeetha is interested in studying the innate immune system of fish, isolation and characterization of antimicrobial peptides and proteins using various chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques and keen to learn proteomic skills for characterizing proteins and peptides.

Most Satisfying Achievements/Awards to Date:
Her most satisfying work thus far was serving as university student secretary in National Social Service program 1999 - 2000
